“We Eloped” Nothing but love

Written by Nicole Mitsakis

Not every couple wants the big white wedding, some would prefer a smaller more intimate ceremony of close family and friends, while others would embrace just having only themselves.  Yes, you can still dress up even if your wedding is going to be at City Hall.  Honestly, some cities and towns have beautiful public buildings that will make your ceremony not only convenient, but also provide a unique aesthetic to your special day.

Some couples opt to have a small dinner with those close to them.  When you are planning a dinner celebration for 8-12 people vs 100-150 your options are somewhat limitless.  Maybe you host a dinner on the beach or at an eclectic restaurant.

If you chose to do nothing, that is fine too because you can be creative when you announce that you eloped!

I’m not going to lie, I was the bride that wanted and did have the big white wedding, but after seeing some really charming elopements I may have just changed my mind.  Clearly, I will not be getting a “do over” with my wedding, but I have a new perspective on how maybe intimate is a valuable option to consider.

While looking for inspiration for this blog I discover that the San Francisco City Hall by far is the most beautiful building and very popular with Elopements…I can see why!

I love everything about weddings, but one of my favorite parts is the wedding gown.  This week in New York City as the spring flowers bloom wedding designers have descended to showcase their new collections at the 2017 Spring Bridal Fashion Week. Below are just a few of our favorites from the runways of New York, but to see more click HERE.

Fantastic Wedding Transportation!

Written by Tania Atkinson

Most of our blogs are about trends in weddings, and this one is no different!  One trend we’ve noticed in almost every wedding we’ve done is the new and creative ways couples are getting their wedding parties and guests to and from the ceremony and reception sites.  Though we do still see the traditional Rolls Royces and stretch limos, more often than not, we are seeing more creative modes of transportation in weddings.  Part of this trend is the result of creative couples putting a new twist to their wedding theme, but, it’s also due to the increasing number of safely conscious couples wanting to ensure their guests make it home safely after a fun night out, without having to drive!

School buses are a great, and rather inexpensive way to get all of your guests to and from their destination, and they definitely add a kind of “throw-back” element to a wedding!

With the ever growing trend of rustic, barn weddings, a horse drawn (or even tractor drawn) wagon is a perfect way to get your wedding party or guests from the ceremony to the reception site.

We are seeing a steady increase in ski resort weddings, in winter as well as the warmer seasons.  Why not take advantage of the transportation that is already there to get your guests and wedding party to the mountain top ceremony!

A fire engine, or parade of them, is a charming way to transport the wedding party of a fire fighter.  Besides the fantastic photo opportunity, the use of fire engines is just another way to add a personal touch to a couples wedding.

The trolley has to be one of the most popular modes of wedding transportation for the past few years.  It’s a fun ride for guests and perfect for almost all climates and wedding themes!

For an ocean front wedding, why not go with a vintage tug boat?  This is another fun way to transport the wedding party to the ceremony and of course, makes for an adorable photo op!

Vintage Finds For Weddings

Written by Jennifer Hansen

“Vintage” is the buzz word in our industry right now, especially when it comes to decor!  We love when our clients decide to think outside the box and check out their local second hand stores to find inexpensive, meaningful items for their wedding or event. We have found amazing barn doors, vases (cheaper then Michael’s), frames, centerpieces, seating and so much more at these great local businesses.  So grab a cup of coffee, your friends (or your better half if you can convince them) and go have some fun.

And just to show you how easy it is to find great items, Erin our savvy and creative intern, went on a walking excursion through downtown Newburyport to see what she could find that could be creatively implemented into a wedding.  Her finds are incredible and as always she exceeds our expectations.

{INDUSTRY NEWS} The Billion Dollar Wedding

As wedding planners, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t at least acknowledge the billion dollar wedding that took place this past week in Russia.  The groom, Said Gutseriev, the son of a Russian oil tycoon, and the bride, Khadija Uzhakhova, a dental student, took extravagance to a whole new level with their wedding.  The bride and groom transformed Moscow’s opulent banquet venue, Safisa, with walls of floor to ceiling fresh flowers,  and stunning  lighting displays all for their 600 guests who were delivered to the venue by a fleet of Rolls Royces.  But the decor wasn’t the only show-stopper.  The bride wore a custom jewel encrusted Ellie Saab gown that weighed  more then 25 pounds!  And as only a billion dollar wedding can, the entertainment for the night consisted of live performances by Jennifer Lopez, Sting and Enrique Iglesias.  We will all have to stay tuned for part 2 of these extravagant nuptials as there is rumored to be a second reception taking place in London very soon.
