New York Stationery Show 2016

Written by Nicole Mitsakis

Every May in New York City the National Stationery Show  is there to showcase all things paper.  You will find the latest designs in greeting cards, custom invitations, gift wrap and journals, to lifestyle gifts – and everything in between.  I’ve had the pleasure of attending NSS three times and it never disappoints and always is so much fun.  I was not there this year, but was following via social media to see and read about all the new designers, veteran designers and of course fun new items that you will now see in the market.  I picked a few of what I consider “fabulous finds” and are so excited to share it with all of you.

How fun are these wine tags by Design with Heart Studio, you could use them for the wedding party!

What I love best about NSS is that it’s not just paper, I am over the moon about Spartina 449 there’s not one item on her site I would not want.  Amazing fresh and clean patterns for bags and just about everything else. LOVE that they even have a bag pattern just for us in the Northeast.

Who doesn’t love a unicorn…leave it to Waste Not Paper to come up with this line of course everyone needs a “spirit animal”.

While at the NSS you’ll see tons of inspiration from the designs to the 1000’s of  show booths you can visit.  I feel it’s fitting to end with this “inspiration” from holstee.com…I think we all need to remember what really matters in LIFE.

Heaven in the Southwest!

Written by Tania Atkinson

We are tried and true New Englanders here at Gracious Events.  However after visiting Arizona for a few days, we have decided that as appealing as sub zero temperatures and multiple feet (except for this winter) of snow is, the warm always-sunny climate of the southwest is SO much better!

We visited  a number of resorts in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, but it was The Sanctuary Camelback Resort that really needed to be shared with the folks back east.  Tucked away in the foothills of Camelback Mountain, this little piece of heaven radiates luxury and elegance, but in a non-pretentious kind of way.

This Asian inspired resort features gorgeous pools, a zen garden, hiking trails and one of the best panoramic views in the state.  And if all that activity fires up your appetite, you can dine in any one of their fabulous restaurants under the supervision of the Food Networks’ executive chef Beau McMillan.

But wait,  there’s more! Literally minutes from the Sanctuary, are world renown golf courses and downtown Scottsdale, so you can eat, shop and play all without opening an umbrella or putting on a parka!

A few weeks ago the GEM Team took a road trip out to Chestnut Hill to visit the Dane Estate!  The entrance to the main building has a beautiful and spacious round cobblestone courtyard, perfect for a cocktail hour before a party or a fun food truck at the end of the night!  Lovelynn and Michelle gave us a private tour that included all the fascinating history behind this classic property.  There are so many quirky and fun elements to this property…they actually have a hidden coat room behind a secret panel.  Whether you want your event inside, outside, with or without a tent, the Dane Estate offers limitless opportunities.

Thank you to Lovelynn and Michelle, we are so happy to have met you and look forward to working with both of you.
